Greetings members and friends of SISPS.

On June 1st Staten Island Power Squadron officially changed it name to Staten Island Sail and Power Squadron.  We now officially recognize sailboaters as part of Staten Island Power Squadron and so does USPS.

Well summer is almost upon us and we have already had a GREAT cruise to Bermuda, a powerboat run around Staten Island and picnic in Great Kills Harbor. Both events were well attended - 25 going to Bermuda and 15 circumnavigating Staten Island. Special thanks to Regina and Harold Goldberg for organizing and running a wonderful cruise on the Norwegian Dawn to Bermuda.  “WELL DONE”.

On June 19th we will have our picnic at Sandy Hook Coast Guard base. Already 55 members and friends have expressed interest in coming. Call Joe David now 917-968-7794. Also on June 26th we will walk/run in Luke’s Walk, a Scholarship fund/raiser for graduating high school seniors on Staten Island. The event will take place at St. Joseph by the Sea High School. There is still time to attend.  There is a $25.00 donation at the door. The time is 8:00 AM.

In July we have the 4th of July Parade in Travis. We could use people to hold the banner and walk/wave --- ONLY 2   short miles ---.

July 16th to July 18th is the Haverstraw Cruise and Rendezvous. There is plenty of room. Come by boat or car. Make reservations for a slip by calling 1-845-429-2001 and ask for Robyn or Sherry. Mention you are with Staten Island Power Squadron.  If you can’t come by boat, then come by car on Saturday, July 17th and have a delicious dinner with us at the “Hudson Water Club” restaurant.
