Hi Everyone;

I would like to thank the officers and members of Staten Island Sail and Power Squadron for having the confidence to elect me as your new Commander. I am also honored to be the third woman to serve in this position.

My journey with USPS began in the early eighties. Jimmy and I purchased our first boat in 1982 in Brooklyn at Kings Plaza shopping mall. Our ongoing joke is he got the boat and I got the baby. Jim became a member of Plum Beach Power Squadron in 1982. It took me till 1986 to become a member. My role of raising our son James, born in 1983, became my first priority.

After Plum Beach disbanded, we took a break from USPS for a number of years . After we moved to Staten Island in 1996 we joined SISPS.

I never would have thought that 26 years later I would be a Commander.

I have big shoes to fill where P/C Don Heap left off. Educating the public about safely operating and maintaining their boats is number one. We must not forget our social and civi functions as well.

I am open to any suggestions.
