Commander’s Message
Winter-Spring 2012
Commander Don Heap, SN
Email

Greetings

I hope all are in good health. This will be my last message as your Squadron Commander. Margaret and I have had a very enjoyable time leading the Squadron.

Looking back over the two years of my Command we have been very busy. The Squadron has gone to Bermuda, traveled to Haverstraw Bay, Long Beach Island and had a Rendezvous in Great Kills Harbor. Our Picnics and Crab-A-Ques’ were very well attended. With the yearly success of our Christmas Bruch, the New York Foundling Hospital has received over $53,500.00 and thousands of presents for the children of Staten Island from SISPS over the 26 years weve hosted the event.

Our Kids Don’t Float program has enjoyed excellent results. Children are safer on the docks and boats while raising the visibility of Staten Island Power Squadron. All these accomplishments could not be achieved without the help of my Bridge, Executive Committee, Course Chairmen, Instructors and all the dedicated members who are in the background doing the work.

With a new Bridge taking the helm on March 31, 2012 at the Change of Watch Dinner Dance, I hope the membership will step up and help make their time of Command as successful as mine. Thank you for all the help. Hope to see you at the Change of Watch and have a Safe Boating Season.

Don Heap SN
Commander
